Welcome to Idiots Go Running
The story behind the podcast, the people, and the slightly ridiculous challenges.
What started as a few runs, a bit of banter, and some big ideas has turned into something much bigger.
Idiots Go Running is a podcast, a project, and a real-life journey built around friendship, challenge, humour, and doing hard things even when life gets complicated. It is about running, yes, but it is also about much more than running.
At the centre of it all are Colin, Andrew, and Matt — three ordinary lads with a love of running, plenty of opinions, and a habit of turning simple ideas into much bigger ones than anyone originally planned.
Who We Are
We are not elite athletes. We are not polished influencers. We are not here to pretend we have everything figured out.
What we are is honest.
Idiots Go Running was built on the idea that running should feel real, accessible, and full of personality. Some days that means strong training sessions and big race goals. Other days it means sore legs, bad decisions, plenty of complaining, and somehow laughing our way through it all anyway.
This is a space for people who love running, love a challenge, and enjoy the craic that comes with it.
How It Started
Like a lot of good ideas, this one did not begin with a grand plan.
It started with running becoming more than just exercise. It became a way to cope, a way to connect, and a way to keep pushing forwards. Over time, conversations around training, races, setbacks, and life in general turned into something worth sharing.
That is where the podcast came from.
What began as ordinary chats between friends and brothers slowly turned into a platform where we could tell the full story — the good days, the hard days, the funny moments, the race recaps, the lessons learned, and the ideas that probably should have stayed ideas.
Why It Matters
There is a deeper reason behind all of this.
Colin lives with multiple sclerosis, and that has shaped a huge part of this journey. Running became more than a hobby. It became a way to respond to diagnosis, to keep moving forwards, and to prove that life does not stop when things get difficult.
That spirit now sits at the heart of everything we are building.
Idiots Go Running is about showing that challenge, adventure, friendship, and ambition are still possible, even when life throws something serious in your path. It is about finding purpose in the miles and humour in the madness.
What We Are Building
Over time, this has grown into much more than a podcast.
It has become a place to share training, races, big ideas, events, interviews, and honest updates from the road. It is a home for the stories behind the miles, and a way for people to follow the journey as it unfolds.
Through the podcast, the website, and our wider running challenges, we want to build something that feels real, inclusive, and worth following — whether you are chasing a marathon, starting your first 5k, living with your own challenges, or simply enjoy listening to people take on slightly unhinged goals.
What’s Next
The biggest chapter is still to come.
In 2026, we are taking on MS Runs Ireland — a 350-mile run from Mizen Head to Malin Head — with the aim of raising £100,000 for MS causes.
It is a huge challenge. It will be difficult, messy, emotional, and probably slightly stupid at times. Which, in many ways, makes it the perfect next step for Idiots Go Running.
This site will be where we share that build-up and that story.
From podcast episodes and training updates to event news, guest interviews, and reflections from the journey, this is where people can follow along from the very beginning.
Thanks for Joining Us

We are only getting started.
